Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic Social Media Director to lead our social department, own client performance, and drive integrated digital strategy across accounts.
This is not a traditional “content” leadership role. This role owns:
Client outcomes and retention
Strategic direction across organic + paid social
Team performance and accountability
Integration with PR to drive business impact
The Social Media Director will be responsible for ensuring all work connects to measurable results, continuously evolves based on performance, and supports long-term client growth.
What You’ll Do
Account Ownership & Client Outcomes
Own client health across all social-led and integrated accounts
Be accountable for retention, client satisfaction, and account growth
Identify risks early and proactively implement solutions
Act as the senior strategic lead across accounts
Strategic Leadership (Organic + Paid)
Develop and oversee integrated social strategies tied to business objectives (revenue, traffic, engagement, discoverability)
Lead both organic social and paid amplification strategies as a unified system
Ensure strategies are continuously optimized (not set-and-forget)
Guide teams to move beyond vanity metrics toward outcome-driven reporting
Develop and integrate influencer strategies (paid and organic), building team capability and leveraging creators to drive reach, credibility, and performance
Identify when paid support is required to achieve client goals and position accordingly
Stay ahead of platform, algorithm, and AI-driven changes and translate them into an actionable strategy
Paid Social & META Expertise
Own paid social strategy across key accounts, with deep expertise in META platforms
Oversee campaign planning, execution, and optimization within Meta Business Manager
Drive audience segmentation, budget allocation, creative testing, and scaling decisions
Use performance data to inform strategic pivots and growth opportunities
Integrate paid, organic, and PR efforts for maximum impact
Team Leadership & Accountability
Lead, mentor, and hold the social team accountable to performance and quality standards
Ensure Account Leads own client outcomes, not just execution
Establish clear ownership across accounts and reinforce accountability structures
Coach team on connecting work to business impact and communicating that effectively
Address performance gaps quickly and directly
Client Communication & Strategic Partnership
Lead high-level client conversations and act as a trusted advisor
Translate performance into clear, actionable insights
Proactively educate clients on platform changes, performance realities, and opportunities
Build strong relationships through transparency and strategic thinking
Integrated PR + Social Collaboration
Partner with PR leadership to ensure aligned strategy and messaging
Ensure social supports broader communications goals (reputation, visibility, demand generation)
Identify opportunities for amplification across earned, owned, and paid channels
Business Development & Growth
Support new business through strategy development and pitching
Identify upsell opportunities, particularly in paid digital and integrated campaigns
Contribute to agency growth through new ideas and offerings
Operational Excellence
Ensure systems and processes drive efficiency, clarity, and accountability
Oversee workflows without over-reliance on tools (focus on outcomes, not task tracking)
Manage team capacity in alignment with account needs
Quality Control
Own final quality of all social deliverables
Ensure work is strategic, polished, and aligned with client goals
Maintain a high bar for creative, messaging, and execution
Requirements
7+ years of experience in social media marketing in an agency environment
Proven experience leading both organic and paid social strategies
Deep expertise in Meta Business Manager, including campaign setup, optimization, and reporting
Direct experience managing and developing a team (including performance management, delegation, and accountability)
Strong understanding of performance metrics, attribution, and digital marketing analytics
Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
Strong business acumen with experience in client retention and account growth
Excellent communication and presentation skills

Location
This role requires candidates to be based in Austin at the time of application. While Resplendent operates on a hybrid model, this position requires regular in-person client interaction, media networking, events, tastings, and local market engagement.
